challenged

I'm not good at flower arranging. So I resort to copying from magazines. I loved this flower arrangement because its not your traditional boring fall arrangement; its a little bit modern, which is what I like. You'd think it would be easy to look at a picture and copy it, but not for me. I spent an hour at Hobby Lobby staring at the flowers in bewilderment. There's so many! And they're expensive! So I finally settled on these flower, which are different than the ones in the inspiration picture, but they were cheap. I got a huge clear glass fish bowl for $7 and spray painted it white, and I spent $12 on the flowers. So its a $20 flower arrangement, which isn't super cheap, but I like it. What do you think?

I like it a lot! I love the spray painting the vase idea. Only thing I would add are a few of those berry branches to give it various height. Just an idea. You could even use some bare branches from outside that you cleaned. :)

I wanted to get some rose hips, like in the example, but they all looked really fake. But I agree, that is one thing that is definitely missing.

I never thought about spray painting a vase... I have some leftover from the crib that I might have to try that with.. If you spray paint the inside of the vase instead of the outside, you can maintain the glassy shine.

I was afraid I was going to screw it up or not get an even coat if I did it from the inside, so I did it from the outside.

I love it! That is really, really nice- and I love the blue background, too! That is a really good idea- we need more flowers around here, and I'm not very good at decorating. I might have to steal that idea!

All I have to say is that my floral design class (that I took in efforts to calm down and not be so OCD) was the most stressful class of my life because there seemed to be so many rules. So, if $20 you get these kinds of results, I am impressed!
