Okay, I've debated whether I should post about this or not, cause most everyone I know has read and loved the Twilight series, so I know I might be mobbed when I give my opinion. But, I really didn't care for it too much.
First, it was really hard for me to get past the fact that it's about vampires. Parts of the book were graphic and a little disturbing to me. I have an overactive imagination, which is bad when reading anything even slightly scary or graphic, so in the end, it left me with kind of a bad feeling. Also, the love story was good at first, I mean, who wouldn't want to fall in love with an inhumanly gorgeous man with super powers? But after a while, the repetitive dialogue, themes, and blatant foreshadowing started to feel so "high school" to me, and at the end, Bella even started to get on my nerves a little.
So anyway, I've decided I'm not going to read the rest of the books. I actually already read the teasers, so at least I know what happens to everyone. I haven't decided if I'm going to see the movie or not.
So that's my opinion about the books. What do you think?

amen sista:) I am stopped in the middle of the 4th book (breaking dawn) and I don't even care if I ever finish it!
You're right. It cannot be denied that the writing is very young adult. She reuses words way too much and the whole "selfless love" concept is absolutely stifling and trite.
But I have to admit, something made me keep reading, dangit! It's like she put crack into the pages somehow...or chocolate.
I have yet to read any of the books. I have heard only wonderful things about it from the sisters in my ward, so I'm a little intrigued. From what I understand, these books are geared for pre-teens and teens, so that might explain the repetitive dialogue and other issues you have. I'll let you know what I think as soon as I read the first one.
I liked them because they were so simple. I needed something that didn't take any thinking to read in between chasing after the girls.
You already heard my opinion but I'll write it down anyway. I read the first three books, but have yet to decide if I'm going to read the last one or see the movie. I read the books at a time when I needed something to keep my mind off of the constant nausea I had. It worked and the books were enjoyable to read because of the intrigue and mystery, etc., but I don't like the love story part in it. I think it's way too detailed for teens to read.
There is something about them though that makes it hard to put down. That's why I'm not going to even get or open the last one.
I read the first one, and half of the second... I really was not a huge fan. She uses the word "incredulous" WAY TOO MUCH!! Yeah, I'm not planning on finishing the series. It's too high-drama, and their love seemed so shallow to me.
And yeah, I basically got mobbed by all my friends too. Yet, somehow, I got conned into seeing the midnight showing of the movie with them... :/
Amanda is my SIL, and I blog hopped over here. I saw that your little girl is allergic to the mosquitoes. I have a son that has this bad allergy too and have a great recipe for home made bug spray that I use for him that I would be happy to pass along if you want. I like it because he can be covered and I don't feel like he is getting all the cemicals from the commercial sprays. If you are interested, my email is kristielynnw@juno.com.
Okay, so I read the first one, and the first 3/4 of it was okay, and the best part was the last part of the book when there was actually ACTION. I just think Bella is way too involved with the way that Edward LOOKS. I mean, come on, there's WAY more to a person than the way they look! Get over it already! Kind of annoying, but it's an easy read and I think I'll try the next ones. If there's more action and less obsessing over looks then I think it'll be better.
