Abby's surgery went very well this morning. The doctor said the fluid in her ears was the consistency of airplane glue (?!?!?) and so he said she should be able to immediately hear better now that it's all cleared out. The fact that is was so thick is wonderful news. It means that most of her hearing loss was due to that blockage. So we met her in the recovery room and although she was still pretty loopy from the anesthesia, she looked my direction when I called her name, which she hasn't done in a while. It's amazing how the simplest of things can bring tears to your eyes.
There's still a chance that she could have some additional hearing loss, but she won't be tested for that for a few more weeks. Until then, we will celebrate her hearing and thank the Lord for helping her to hear better.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Although it was a very simple procedure, the outcome really meant a lot to us. We are so grateful to have the support of friends and family during times like this.

I am so glad to hear the GOOD news!!!! And glad that all went really well:) I hope you guys have a great weekend....and that Abby recovers for the anesthesia quickly!
Yay for Abby! It always makes me so sad when little kids have to go through things like this because they never really understand, but I'm so happy that Abby is doing good! What causes fluid to do that? Was it maybe an ear infection that led to fluid that just didn't bother her and got worse and worse over time, but she was never bothered by it? We'll keep her in our prayers that she won't have much, if any, loss from it! Keep us posted on everything. I bet she will only be happier from here on out! All I can say is Yay!!
Reading about how Abby turned when you called her name made me tear up! You are soooo very lucky and blessed Mandie! :)
OKay... I know that I am a wuss but just reading that she turned when you called her name made me cry. I am reading a book about being a mom and it is making me more sensitive to those neat moments. I am so happy for you and for Abby. We love you!
Mandie and Brian,
I'm just NOW catching up on your blog and I'm so sorry that I didn't read earlier so that I could have been praying this whole time. But I'll start now. I'm THRRRRILLED that the surgery went well. I'm sure she'll be just fine and please keep updated us all on her progress. What a blessing that you were able to catch it and get the surgery done before your new little one arrives. Hugs to you all!!! Love, All The Adams Family :)
