So we bought Photoshop last week and I'm just getting around to trying it out. There is a huge learning curve so it will be a while before I get the hang of it, but I'm SO excited! This is a picture I took recently of Abby and so I did a little experimenting with it.
Here's the original. Great face, but the pic is washed out and there's not a lot of natural contrast to work with.
So I cropped it, converted it to b&w and increased the shadows to give it sort of a vintage or "newspapery" look.
Still got a lot to learn, but it's fun!

how fun! I so want to get photoshop! Abby is such a doll!
What a difference!!!!!
There are a couple of places I know of that you can buy Actions for photoshop (essentially, someone's done all the work for you, and you just press one thing to achieve the look you want -- some of the actions out there are awesome). I also know of places to get a few freebies. Let me know if you'd like to find them, as it makes messing with photoshop all the more fun! (gabby @ nonchalant. nu)
Way cool!! I would love to get that some day. You really have an "eye" for photography though. Helps that your kids are so cute, too!
Mandie actually has Photoshop elements, so you can't create actions. I know how to create actions in the real Photoshop (it's really quite fun and easy!) and once Mandie has the real, full version it'll make a lot of difference in some of the things you can do. Photshop Elements is really great though, it takes a lot of the work out of things for you and is perfect for people just getting started with it (and it's not nearly as expensive!) So if anyone wants the perks of Photoshop without having to pay the full price that's always an option!
