So according to the Social Security Administration, the name Abby has consistently stayed in the top ten most popular names in the state of Texas for the last eight years. Carter doesn't even make the top 100.
So why is it that I don't know a SINGLE Abigail besides my own, and yet I have two friends with a toddler named Carter, I just found out my kids have a second cousin named Carter, and in the past week I have come across two more people with kids named Carter?
Granted, Carter was ranked number 65 in the US last year. But still.
We chose Carter's name because it is a family surname and we thought it was a little unique.
Oh well...

I had someone ask me after Carter was born if you named him that after ex-Pres Jimmy Carter and I said "You don't know our family very well, do you?" ;)
I know at least one other Abby and a handful of Maddy's!
We have a few Abigails at church, and I know of at least three teachers at school with little girls named Abigail. I only know of one other Carter. Carter did make the list if this baby was going to be a boy, Patrick loves to name things after presidents.
I have an Abigail in my primary class. So, Carson is in the top 100 but somehow he gets called Carter regularly by random people...go figure.
Well, I've never heard of any other Gideons. You have all picked very cute names for your kids and I'm sure they'll be very popular!
I really like both names. Carter made my top list for boys names for Bryce. i've been thinking a lot about the kids and esp abby..since her surgery is coming up. please call if there is anything i can do. will this be a day surgery for abby? julia really misses her.
