the death of me

Abby lost her cochlear implant today. I put it on her this morning and her teacher called me at noon to say that Abby didn't have it on. Somewhere between then she lost it. Abby told her that it was in the car, so I searched the car high and low and didn't find it, and the teacher tore apart the school looking for it.
I really have no idea where it could be. There's a pretty good chance that wherever it is, its safe, and we just need to locate it, but there is a slim possibility that Abby discovered that its magnetic and stuck it on the outside of the car, and if that's the case, its long gone. But she's never done that before, so lets hope that didn't happen.
She's only worn the thing for three months! There is a ONE time replacement for it, but after that, we're screwed. We have a back-up implant, but it takes disposible batteries, and its a pain. We're using it until we can figure out where the other one is, so its not totally the end of the world that she lost it. But I swear, if my kids keep losing their hearing aids, I'm going to go crazy. And to think I have 16 more years of this.
*sigh*
But to end this post on a positive note, here's a picture of Abby and Anna in matching $2.50 Children's Place dresses. I'm not sure which is harder to believe; that we got these for $2.50, or that these girls are cousins.

okay that is a steal on the dresses and such an ADORABLE cousin picture:) And I can only IMAGINE how crazy you go knowing how expensive these things are....and there's not much you can do about it till they are a bit older:(

Oh heavens!!! My worst nightmare. We use toupee tape and a critter clip to keep Noah's CI's on. You can order both online. Hang in there.

Oh, my. I hope you find her CI! I freak out enough about losing hearing aids- I can't imagine the stress of losing a CI! Hopefully it will show up soon, in a nice, safe, dry location.

Critter clips are a good idea- they also make "ear gear" for CI's (and you can get either one in a "one sided" configuration, so you can use it with just the CI). That being said, Nolan finds the ear gear nice and chewy and we had to discontinue using it. The critter clips work better for us.

Yikes! Hope you find it! What a headache. I'm sure it will turn up somewhere.

*GASP* Oh my. Aiden lost his once (well he's only 20 mths, so HE didn't actually lose it), but we found it stuck to the side of the washing machine. Little stinker loves to play in there. I freaked until I found it. We use critter clips like others, but I've seen many people use ear molds with their older kids too. Sending you many good vibes that you find it!

Abby had an ear infection in her CI ear a while back and has since been reluctant to put her ear mold in that ear. Normally it would have helped keep it in her ear.

The thing is, Abby has seemed relatively responsible with her CI and enjoys having it on, so I never really thought it would be a problem. BUT, the fact of the matter is, she's not yet four, and you can never be too cautious when a four year old is carrying $7500 worth of equipment on their bodies.

Oh I'm so sorry!!! I really hope you find it.
I didn't realize how much Abby looked like Brian until I saw some old pictures from my mom's giant collection. He was somewhere between 2 and 4. So cute!

The picture is cute! I got purple dresses for CJ's girls--maybe they can all take a picture at the family party. And I think you are wearing out your guardian angels with the hearing aid.
