Ten Thoughts

1. The Luau I organized went off without a hitch on Saturday, although not as many people came as we were expecting. I love doing that job! It would be fun to be an event planner and get paid for it.

2. I'm sad that Danny didn't win SYTYCD, but Sabra deserved it too.

3. Has your toddler ever pooped in every diaper they made that day? I mean, are you DONE yet?

4. Kim from ECI comes over every Monday to help Abby with her language development, and I think Abby is starting to catch up slowly but surely. What she can't express in words she makes up for in facial expressions. I don't know where she gets it.

5. I love DVR. What would I do without it? Have you ever tried to DVR the radio, or worse, a conversation?

6. Carter is holding his head up really well but has no interest in rolling over.

7. Abby better turn out to be a piano virtuoso, cause she insists on sitting on my lap and banging on the keys when I try to play. Needless to say I don't get to practice much. Hopefully the newness will wear off soon.

8. Abby hates it when people leave our house. She loves people so much and I guess she can't stand to see them leave without her. It could be someone as insignificant as a repair man and she would cry and cry when he left. Well today she didn't cry when Daddy or ECI left the house. She just waved bye-bye and went on her merry way. That was nice.

9. This is my photographer idol. http://alwphotography.com/ Someday I want to be just as good as her...or at least have her camera.

10. Could Carter's head be any rounder??? I love my two boys so much!

I am glad the Luau went well. I am sure it was a lot of fun. Do you have any pictures?

Sounds like you've been having a lot of fun, well despite diapers! A girl at church a couple of weeks ago was talking about her daughter and that when she was two she only had two words, shoe and mama. They had a speech therapist come in and teach her the phoenetic sounds for each letter. I'm not sure how exactly it works, but they decided to try and sound out the scriptures for her each night and did one verse through with her. Then 3 months later she had gone from 2 words to over 50. Abby's probably too young for that, but I thought it was really interesting anyway! I wonder if Ginny knows what it is?

How many came to your luau? We only had about 75-80 people at Splash Day. We had twice that much last year and 3 times as many at National Night Out!

I didn't even count. Over a hundred at least... Let's just say I bought 80 pizzas (to feed 250 people) and we gave away 30 of them. Yikes. I think a lot of it had to do with tax free weekend.

One important thing we have learned as the Celebration Committee (soon to celebrate 20 years of being there) is to doublecheck for other events in the area and to avoid holidays, if at all possible. Things like Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Juneteenth, Cinco de Mayo, etc. often come when we should have an event, but it seems that many culturally diverse groups like to celebrate all weekend, so they do not come to city celebrations. Pizza? at a luau? Now that is culturally diverse!

We didn't think a stuffed pig would go over very well, plus pizza's cheap and easy. :)
