Toe is Me

I really have no right to complain about something so small, because there are a lot of people going through a lot worse things. But for the sake of documenting my life and feelings, I'm going to do it anyway.

When I was a music teacher I got my toes stepped on more times than I can count. And because I wore open toed shoes a lot, there were a few times when my toes, especially my right big toe, really took a beating. Well, it never recovered from the last time it was stepped on, and eventually turned into an ingrown toenail.

I know. Eew. And Ow.

So on Monday I finally bit the bullet and got it "fixed," which means the doc goes in and removes a slice of the nail and then fixes it to where that part will never grow back again.

I know. Gross.

I've always been pretty vain about my feet. Most people think feet are the ugliest part of the body but I actually think my feet are kinda cute. That is, until now. I've got 3/4 of a nail and it's going to be so ugly!

I know. Get over it. And I will... I just needed to vent.

That actually happened to me in the eighth grade! since I ran track and never wore the right shoes my big toes were also taking beatings as well....then one day some kid ran over my foot while rollerblading and it was all over from there. My nail eventually grew back but no more ingrown toenails!!

Yeah, you do have the nicer feet and toes out of the sisters, lucky! But alas, you have come to the dark side with weird toes like the rest of us. :) Still, wouldn't you rather have 3/4 of a toenail that ingrown toenails all the time? Ouch! I'm sure they were awful when you were pregnant!

Not fun! You McMurdie girls & your feet! I haven't blogged in awhile & had fun catching up with you. You've got some great pictures but I guess that's partly due to the darling kids you have to shoot. I love your piano, too. It's so wonderful to have a piano in the home.

Ouch. I hope your toe feels better! I'm sure it won't look that bad when it heals!

I used to get ingrown toenails in high school and it is one of worst pains I can think of (outside of child birth and kidney stones). I cannot believe you put up with it for so long! I am glad it is fixed for you and am I certain your toes will be back to beautiful soon. In the meantime, you can pain a a toenail on the bandage. :-)

Why is it when you have an ingrown toenail, that one toe keeps getting stepped on repeatedly? It's like Murphy's Law!!! Why don't you give me a call about Carter's hearing. Do you still have my phone number? We'll have to get together and I can give you some advice. Sometimes it's just nice to talk to someone who really knows what you're going through, too!!!
