Well. It happened. I've reached the rite of passage that every woman in the LDS church must experience at some point in their life. The nursery. To some it is their dream calling, to others it is a dreaded, inevitable black hole. If I had to list all the callings I could have in order of desire, nursery would be close to the bottom next to den leader and adult sunday school teacher. But I accepted the calling because I trust that this was an inspired call and I'll take on any challenge.
So I spent today in the nursery, and I have to admit, I had a lot of fun. I actually think I will enjoy it! I am the nursery leader, so I get to organize things the way I want, the other nursery workers are really great, and I get to spend time with Abby and all her little buds.
But I swear, almost every kid in the room had a poopy diaper at one point or another, and no matter what we did we couldn't get the smell out of that room. We were still smelling butts as they were walking out of the room cause we couldn't figure out where the smell was coming from! So with me previously being in primary, Brian and I rarely had a chance to talk doctorine, and now it's even worse. From now on, all he's going to be getting from me is a weekly poop report. :)

So I felt the exact same way you did before I got called to nursery. But just like you I had fun as well. There is some reason for the call. As I look back being in nursery really helped Maryn adjust to it when she turned 18 months. Have fun!
Oh, just so you know, someone in my ward primary (I forget exactly who) was just raving about what a good job you did with singing time when the wards were still together. :)
LOL!!!! and YUCK! I could not take that smell right now at all! I think you are a great person to have a good attitude about this:) I was the nursery leader for a while in the old ward.....but the nursery was so small it was no big deal. In this ward we have 3 big nursery's and in a few months we will have 4 nursery's and over 50 kids...YIKES! Our nursery leader is the bishops wife and she is wonderful! So GOOD LUCK and hopefully next week there will not be so much poop!
I was walking by the nursery during sacrament mtg, and heard some singing & had to take a peek. I saw you & all the kiddos & thought it was the cutest thing. You'll do GREAT!!
Nursery is a hard one! But there are perks like snacktime :-) You'll be great in there!
Lucky! Jared & I volunteered for a whole month in nursery hoping someone would get the hint and give us that job. What's not to love? Cute kids, singing, very short lessons, snacks, playtime. And, when you find a poopy diaper you don't have to change it!
We just got called to primary. Thankfully it's together, but the discussions on doctrine will probably not happen as much. It's now become more of a survival thing for an hour. :)
