sweet dreams, sad reality

The older my kids get, the more I realize how different they are.

Abby slept through the night at five weeks. Carter slept through the night at nine weeks, but has never been very consistent.

Abby was very predictable and would stick to a schedule very easily. Carter is so erratic in his sleeping habits, and it takes hard work to keep him on a schedule.

Abby would coo herself to sleep in a matter of minutes. Lately, it takes 15 minutes of screaming to get Carter to sleep.

Abby handled teething very well. Carter, not so much. I took him to the doctor today because I thought something was wrong with him because he woke up every hour all night long. Doctor said he was fine, and that it was all due to teething. (Augh!)

I'm going to go insane if this keeps up. So I'm working extra hard this week to get him on a consistent schedule, and hopefully that will make him feel better and give me some peace.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my children equally as much. I've even come to find all Carter's grouchy quirks endearing. He's just not making my life very easy right now. I'm so tired.

Oh, man....I sure hope my next one is the opposite of P in his sleeping habits! Although I'll be honest.....if having a great sleeper would have changed the person P is I would never have traded it! The child still wakes up most nights..... GOOD LUCK!

Did you at least get a nap today? Keep me posted if going back to 2 naps a day helps! I hope you get more sleep!

have you tried teething tablets? They're in the pharmacy section and supposedly numb a kids gums just enough to calm fussy teethers. I have a friend that swears by them. Her kid wouldn't eat when teething until they gave her a teething tablet and some tylenol. The tablet wears off about the time the tylenol kicks in. Good luck.
