Update on Abby's Hearing

Abby had her six week check up at the ENT today and she did excellent on her hearing test, which means the tubes fixed the problem. YAY! Today is her 18-month birthday and I can't think of a better present to have.

We think she's still behind verbally, so we're having Early Childhood Intervention come out next week to do an evaluation. If she is 3 months or more behind her peers in speaking, then we will have someone come to our house for a while to get her back on track. I'm excited to see her progress.

Carter B

Carter's one-month birthday was on the 18th. It's been a good month so far. He is such a sweet baby, but sooo different than Abby was. Abby was one of those super independent babies that liked to hang out by herself, fall asleep independently, and cry only for the important stuff. This little bug is much more lovable and craves mamma time. But that's okay, cause mamma craves Carter time too.

Sick Day

Abby hasn't been feeling well now for almost a week, except we really can't pinpoint what's wrong with her. She had a low grade fever for four days, with no other symptoms except she's been extreemly moody. The doctor says it's probably just a virus and we'll just have to wait it out. Today the moodiness is still there (see picture), but the fever's gone, so we're hoping she's getting over it, cause mamma's got enough to worry about.

On a good note, you can see how much hair she's growing!

McMurdie Family Reunion

What do you get when you cram 35 people (including 17 kids) into a 6 bedroom, 4,000 square foot lodge for four days? Tons of fun, lots of memories...and the stomach virus. We stayed in the Rocky Mountain Lodge in Cascade, Colorado. It was a beautiful location and the lodge was very rustic and cozy, the perfect location for a family reunion. We planned a couple of day trips to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Garden of the Gods, but for the most part we spent our days at the lodge playing games and catching up with the family. We had a great time and can't wait to get the whole family together again.

I was sharing a camera with Scott and Carrie because our camera was still in the shop (we have it now though) and so I didn't get to document the trip the way I wanted to. For more pictures of the family, go to the McMurdie blog.

We shared a 12 passenger van with Scott and Carrie and their kids. Never a dull moment in that van!Abby would stay awake in the car as long as possible and then crash hard. Traveling with kids isn't easy, but moments like this make it worth it.
Carter, on the other hand, had no trouble sleeping. He's the perfect traveling companion.
Abby is always hesitant to try new things, including feeding the giraffes and riding the carousel.


Abby (and Brian and Scott) were the first ones to get the virus. Abby spent the next morning hunched over like this. Poor baby!

Carter's First Bath

Carter's umbi came out the day we left for vacation but we weren't able to give him his first bonafied bath until today. The first two pictures are of Carter, and below is a pic of Abby's first bath. Do you think they look alike?

Thursday???

So our air conditioner won't be fixed until Thursday morning, and probably won't cool down enough to live in until later in the day. So we're hanging at the parents house for a while longer. Good news is we like Mom and Dad McMurdie and the air conditioner repair will be free since it's under warranty, so it's all good.

Not a Happy Camper

So we've been in Colorado Springs for a family reunion since Wednesday and we just got home late last night. It was 1 am when we finally made it home and we were completely exhausted from a whole day of driving. I unlocked the door and carried Abby in only to be slammed in the face with 92 degree heat. Yes! 92 freakin' degrees. Our air conditioning was pumping hot hair for who knows how long and it was obviously not going to cool down so we packed up the kids again and went to Brian's parents to spend the night. Thank goodness they live so close! So we're here waiting it out until the repair man can get it fixed, which probably won't be until this evening. We had a lot of fun with the family and it was a great vacation, but I just want to go home...

What are they thinking?

I am so suprised by how off the baby sizes are sometimes! As an example, I put Abby in one of Carter's brand new 3 month onesies and it fits her! (Although she does look ridiculous.) Abby is a seventeen month old, average sized little girl and she can fit into a three month outfit. What are these clothes makers thinking?
