GiGi

GiGi is Abby's lovey. I bought him at Walmart on clearance for $2 after Valentines Day last year. He was just a cheap little puppy that I thought would look cute in Abby's room, but Abby saw something more in him. She took to him immediately and he has since become her favorite friend.

She isn't totally dependent on him thankfully, and he generally stays at home so we don't have to fight that battle. Yet. But he gets attacked by stickers, gets his diaper changed, pushed around in a stroller, and yes, even thrown in the toilet. But his most important job is to be her sleeping buddy.

I took this picture of her today and for some reason it touched me. I know it's silly, but it was almost like GiGi was telling me, "Hey Mom, I got this." If she's sick, needs comfort, or even a pillow, I know he's there. And that's a comforting feeling.

Ten Thoughts

1. The Luau I organized went off without a hitch on Saturday, although not as many people came as we were expecting. I love doing that job! It would be fun to be an event planner and get paid for it.

2. I'm sad that Danny didn't win SYTYCD, but Sabra deserved it too.

3. Has your toddler ever pooped in every diaper they made that day? I mean, are you DONE yet?

4. Kim from ECI comes over every Monday to help Abby with her language development, and I think Abby is starting to catch up slowly but surely. What she can't express in words she makes up for in facial expressions. I don't know where she gets it.

5. I love DVR. What would I do without it? Have you ever tried to DVR the radio, or worse, a conversation?

6. Carter is holding his head up really well but has no interest in rolling over.

7. Abby better turn out to be a piano virtuoso, cause she insists on sitting on my lap and banging on the keys when I try to play. Needless to say I don't get to practice much. Hopefully the newness will wear off soon.

8. Abby hates it when people leave our house. She loves people so much and I guess she can't stand to see them leave without her. It could be someone as insignificant as a repair man and she would cry and cry when he left. Well today she didn't cry when Daddy or ECI left the house. She just waved bye-bye and went on her merry way. That was nice.

9. This is my photographer idol. http://alwphotography.com/ Someday I want to be just as good as her...or at least have her camera.

10. Could Carter's head be any rounder??? I love my two boys so much!

Today's Top Ten

So I'm going to steal Amanda's idea and post ten thoughts of the day when I have nothing of great importance to write about. I'm really trying to make my blog sort of a journal and log of my family since I'm not going to scrapbook in this lifetime. So here goes...

1. Abby has a cold and is coughing in her bed right now. That makes me so sad!
2. I feel okay and Carter just has a little bit of a runny nose, but if Abby keeps breathing (and wiping and coughing) her nasty germs all over us I'll have a whole house full of sickies.
3. We're putting beadboard paneling in Abby's room and it's taking a lot longer than we anticipated. It's going to look so cute! I'll show you pictures when it's done.
4. I've been on an organizing, rearranging the furniture binge lately.
5. Abby's been on a disorganizing, rearranging binge lately.
6. Carter loves to giggle, hates tummy time.
7. I'm knee deep in community business this week; counting votes at a special HOA meeting and running a Luau on Saturday. Excited for it all, but can't wait for it to be over.
8. Carter has been sleeping through the night for almost a month now, but he spits up so often I have to use receiving blankets as burp cloths and change his clothes at least three times a day... so I think those things cancel each other out. :)
9. My toe is almost healed, and I don't think its going to be as ugly as I thought.
10. I don't want So You Think You Can Dance to end! Go Danny!

Caught Being Good

You ever have one of those days with your toddler where all they do is moan, complain and throw tantrums all day? That was yesterday for Abby. But twice I caught her actually enjoying herself and being pleasant. *Gasp!*

It was quiet and so of course I started to worry, and I found her in her room reading books by herself. So it turned out to be the good peace and quiet. Don't you love the socks?

She thought she would keep Carter company for a while, which he LOVES. He just lights up when Abby comes around. I love watching them interact and I think they're going to be great friends.

Deliriously Sleepy

Yesterday Brian took Abby outside to play in the water while he watered the plants. It was close to her bedtime and wow, was she silly! We love it when she gets this way! I'm sorry I'm posting so many pictures, but all of them were so cute!

Toe is Me

I really have no right to complain about something so small, because there are a lot of people going through a lot worse things. But for the sake of documenting my life and feelings, I'm going to do it anyway.

When I was a music teacher I got my toes stepped on more times than I can count. And because I wore open toed shoes a lot, there were a few times when my toes, especially my right big toe, really took a beating. Well, it never recovered from the last time it was stepped on, and eventually turned into an ingrown toenail.

I know. Eew. And Ow.

So on Monday I finally bit the bullet and got it "fixed," which means the doc goes in and removes a slice of the nail and then fixes it to where that part will never grow back again.

I know. Gross.

I've always been pretty vain about my feet. Most people think feet are the ugliest part of the body but I actually think my feet are kinda cute. That is, until now. I've got 3/4 of a nail and it's going to be so ugly!

I know. Get over it. And I will... I just needed to vent.
