Dear Carter,

You're a sweet boy. So I don't know why you insist on fighting me every time it's time to get into the car. It's not very funny when you sneak back to the third row and hide so that you don't have to get into your car seat. It's even more un-funny when I have to pick up your screaming, writhing body and try to bend it enough to get the seat belt around your limbs and then buckled. Have you been doing crunches...?

Anyway, just to let you know, you can fight me all you want, but I will win. Every time. So maybe you could just make it easier on all of us and let me do it the easy way.

Please?

Your cooperation would be appreciated.

Love, Mommy

p.s. Tell your sister that although its great that she's figured out something new, she's absolutely not allowed to unbuckle the top latch of the seatbelt anymore. Thanks.

That's a great letter to Carter! Spencer loves to fight me with diaper changes. He twists and turns and it is quite frustrating at times but like you I always win!

Oh, my. My kids are at the EXACT same stage of development! Matt unlatches the top part of the carseat and Nolan does the back-arching gymnastics to prevent his from getting buckled.

This letter cracked me up!

Yeah your two kids pretty sum up Ben in ONE. He always insists on going to the 3rd row, would much rather be driving (always says "I want to drive!) and can unlock the top buckle of his car seat too. Super fun. Ben has strict instructions not to undo it unless we are in the parking lot at home. So far he's done pretty good. And I had to throw him in the car kicking and screaming a few times for him to get the point that he didn't have a choice to go in the back seat. Hopefully Carter will get the hint (because I know he's abnormally strong!)
